That invitation just arrived for your friend’s or family member’s wedding and you are not so sure what to wear. Remember to call Making Memories Events & Design to schedule some time to work with our Fashion Stylist to ensure you walk in feeling amazing and ready to celebrate your friend’s or family member’s marriage.
In the meantime, here are few simple fashion tips to consider when selecting what to wear to that special wedding:
Quick Recommendations:
- Time of year the wedding is scheduled for (Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring)
- Is the event Indoors or Outdoors?
- What colors look best on you? (Remember to leave white to the Bride and Groom)
- Be considerate of religious affiliation. You may want to do a bit of research or ask to make sure that strapless dress is most appropriate and will not be offensive. Remember you want to have fun, not shock people.
- Style – is a personal decision. You will want to select something stylish, but too much flair will be a distraction and possibly take away from the bride and groom. Remember the focus should be on the bride, not you.
- Comfort, no matter the selection, is your goal. Especially if you will be dancing, or are outdoors.
Current trends to consider:
- Crazy socks for men, the crazier the better.
- High heels are in for women at the weddings. If you are outdoors, consider the type of heel – you won’t want to spend your time pulling your heel out of the grass.
- Light colored suits are a hot ticket for me. Don’t be afraid to be stylish.
Summer Tips
- Keeping cool while looking elegant and stunning. Remember to stay hydrated.
- Ladies – a longer dress made of light material that is flowing
- Gentleman – a loose button down with a light linen jacket
Fall Tips
- Prepare for the unpredictable weather. Layer.
- Mix and match textures and patterns using complimentary color palettes.
- Use the invitation colors to find a complimentary color for your outfit.
Winter Tips
- Consider an outfit that can be worn again at a holiday party.
- Stylish boots are acceptable when the weather is cold.
- Wool jackets and sweaters can be stylish and keep you warm during those cold winter events.
Spring Tips
- Outfits that can survive both indoor or outdoor events.
- Long dress might not be a good choice for spring, and consider a closed toe flats for those outdoor events.
- Carry a light jacket, blazer or sweater in case the weather cools down.
Beach Attire
- Something that you might wear to a nice restaurant.
- Be cautious of short or anything that may fly up.
- Go barefoot, but get a pedicure and show off those toes.
Formal “Black Tie” Affairs
- Gentlemen – If you do not own a tux, rent one and let them show you how to dress.
- Ladies – Sophisticated and a clutch with beautiful heels. Mid to gown length.
- Scheduled time to have your hair, facial, and nails done. Wear it well.
